Laura de Jonge

Laura de Jonge is Director, Global Business Practices at Nexen Inc. Her role is to manage and oversee the implementation of Nexen's Integrity Program worldwide to make it part of core employee training and evaluation, reporting and business operations. She also oversees a team of practitioners who are responsible for reporting on safety, environment and social responsibility performance and publishing Nexen's Sustainability Report.
Laura served as the Vice Chair of the Social Responsibility Working Group of the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association which included chairing the human rights task force. She currently sits on the Conference Board of Canada's Ethics Management Council and the boards of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility and the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers where she is also the President.
Laura was educated at the University of Calgary and Red Deer College. In 2002, she completed the Certificate Program in Corporate Social Responsibility at the University of Toronto. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Environment and Management at Royal Roads University.
In 2004, Laura wrote, produced and directed her first independent short film, What Goes Around Comes Around, which was one of only two Canadian submissions recognized by the Crystal Vision Awards in 2005.
Laura is a thirteenth generation Canadian and recognized as a Metis under the constitution of Canada. She is married to her soul mate and mother of three fabulous children.
