CSR in the Economic Downturn Conversation Highlights

CSR in the Economic Downturn

On February 5, 2009, GlobeScan and CBSR held a “Salon” to discuss the timely topic of CSR in the economic downturn. The first in a series of similar events, the inaugural gathering allowed over 80 CBSR members and invited guests to discuss the current CSR climate in an informed yet informal atmosphere.

Doug Miller, Chair of GlobeScan presented a snapshop of 2009 GlobeScan CSR Consumer Monitor findings. The Right Honourable Joe Clark moderated responses from the panel: Marketa Evans, Plan Canada; Kaz Flinn, Scotiabank; Adine Mees, CBSR, Dr. Matthew Kiernan, Innovest and Doug Miller.

The conversation ranged from the new pressure to regulate; to the growing gap between consumers expectations and perceived performance; and the question: will the downturn lead to massive change?
